NTTBF26: ED DAY

FRIDAY, march 6

Irving Convention Center

Educator Day, presented by Sam Houston State University’s College of Education’s Library Science program is a FREE professional service day focused on books and the magic of storytelling. Join amazing authors and guests who will share the best new books and practical but exciting ways to engage young readers from the upper elementary levels through high school.

FAQs about Educator Day

  • A: NTTBF Educator Day is an engaging day featuring authors who share insights about their newest books through keynotes, panels, and conversations. The day also includes educational specialists who provide personal perspectives on timely topics impacting education, including book challenges, legislative issues, libraries, and classroom practices.

NTTBF values diverse viewpoints and understands that not every session will resonate with every attendee. Participants are always welcome to step away from a presentation if it does not feel like the right fit. As Jo Godwin noted, “A truly great library contains something in it to offend everyone.”

Also, Educator Day is not a library or English Language Arts conference. While publishers are often present that will showcase their new books, it’s not a day focused on exhibits, freebies and giveaways. Attendees should come ready to hear a variety of perspectives and learn about exciting new titles releasing soon.

  • A: NTTBF Educator Day does not release the author list in order to keep this day special and a surprise for the educators/libraries attending. Due to previous experiences, non-educators and families will arrive on Friday if we announce the authors beforehand. While you may not know the featured authors beyond the keynotes, we can assure attendees the authors attending (about 1/3 of those appearing at Saturday’s festival) will have broad appeal. All are welcome to attend the festival the next day with the full lineup of authors.

  • A: Attendees may purchase books and have them signed at the end of the day.  Additional festival authors may be pre-signing books in the bookstore at this time.  We ask that you not approach these authors and allow them the time to sign stock for festival attendees.  All signed stock will be available Saturday morning when the bookstore opens, and we welcome you back on Saturday to meet the additional authors at NTTBF.

  • A: Lines for author signings will form following the completion of the closing keynote at 4pm. We kindly ask that you do not form lines early.

  • A: Since 2015, NTTBF has been committed to offering free, public events for our community. In order to keep Ed Day free for educators, there are limitations on how the rooms can be configured due to convention center costs. We appreciate your understanding and support of our mission.

  • A: That’s great! Just choose one of the Regions to sign up through so we can save you a spot.

Educator Day is a professional learning event, and all attendees are expected to conduct themselves respectfully toward participating authors and presenters. Harassment or failure to adhere to Educator Day conduct expectations will not be tolerated.
